Not All Heroes Wear Capes: They Rock MWOY Tee’s Instead
Not All Heroes Wear Capes: They Rock MWOY Tee’s Instead
Although fundraising for the 2018 Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign happens between March 26 – June 9, most are unaware that the campaign truly begins long before the first donation comes in. Day one of the 2018 MWOY campaign was actually the day after last year’s MWOY Grand Finale Celebration took place … all the way back in June 2017! The excitement and success of that night helped jumpstart the process of brainstorming ideas, candidate nominees and campaign strategy to ensure that the upcoming year would be even more successful than the last. And the most crucial component of our MWOY campaign’s success is volunteer leadership.
Each year the MWOY campaign is led by the extraordinary vision and guidance of the MWOY Leadership Committee. These individuals volunteer their spare time to provide valuable input, connections, mentorship and innovation. On top of that, they all continue to fundraise for LLS through our “Circle of Hope” Leadership Committee fundraising team. They are absolutely incredible and selfless human beings, and they are the reason our Los Angeles campaign continues to be one of the strongest campaigns in the nation.
This year, our 2018 MWOY Leadership Committee is led by Co-Chairs Ryan Carley, Andrew Dale and Diana Iketani Iorlano. Together, their personal mission impact is over $450,000, although their leadership has supported millions of dollars raised for LLS.

Our Co-Chairs truly partner with LLS staff on every aspect of campaign planning and execution, and we feel fortunate to have such highly energetic, charismatic and passionate individuals in these important roles. If the saying is true, that action reflects leadership, you assume correctly that they are hitting it out of the park, engaging this year’s volunteers to run the best campaign we’ve seen to date!
So in honor of our Leadership Committee Co-Chairs, Leadership Committee, Candidates and Team Members – our amazing volunteers who dedicate their time, resources heart and soul to LLS, HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK. And thank you. You are indispensable to us, as well as the patients & researchers who benefit from your dedication and philanthropic heroism.
