In June 2016, after concern that Callan was not getting better from what was originally thought to be just a common virus, his parents took him back to the pediatrician where blood work revealed all three types of blood cells in his body were critically low. After thirty hours, four blood transfusions and three diagnostic tests, Callan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.Callan was just two years old. By the time he completed his treatment in August 2019, Callan had been on his journey more than half his life. Today, Callan is feeling great, enjoying kindergarten and, now that he has the energy and strength, trying out lots of different sports! He is smart, charismatic, funny and thoughtful. Callan and his family feel honored to be a part of the Man and Woman of the Year campaign and want to say "thank you" to all of this year's candidates for joining the fight against blood cancer! |
