In June 2016, after concern that Callan was not getting better from what was originally thought to be just a common virus, his parents took him back to the pediatrician where blood work revealed all three types of blood cells in his body were critically low.  After thirty hours, four blood transfusions and three diagnostic tests, Callan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.Callan was just two years old.  By the time he completed his treatment in August 2019, Callan had been on his journey more than half his life. Today, Callan is feeling great, enjoying kindergarten and, now that he has the energy and strength, trying out lots of different sports!  He is smart, charismatic, funny and thoughtful. Callan and his family feel honored to be a part of the Man and Woman of the Year campaign and want to say "thank you" to all of this year's candidates for joining the fight against blood cancer!

Taylor was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in 2009. She was only 3 1/2 years old.  In a matter of moments our life changed forever.  We went from a normal family with 2 beautiful 3  1/2 year old twins, to having a very sick child who was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.  
Taylor spent 9 months in the hospital undergoing 5 rounds of chemotherapy.  She was allowed to come home for 13 days in nine months.  She spent Halloween, Thanksgiving, her birthday, and Christmas in the hospital getting treatment. 
Due to amazing doctors, therapies, and a lot of prayers, Taylor has been in remission since 2010.  She continues to be monitored for side effects from the chemotherapy and will have to be screened yearly for cancer for the rest of her life. 
Taylor is now a very active 14 year old.  She loves to play soccer, hang out with her friends and family, and just be a normal teenager.  She is truly our miracle and we couldn’t be more proud of the person she is today.
